OpalThread is a small house on purpose. Fewer clients, more attention, and a studio where every garment passes through the same three pairs of hands.
Our Story
OpalThread began in 2018 with a single sewing table and a conviction: that a garment made for one person will always outlast a garment made for a size. Nearly a decade later that conviction still governs every commission.
We keep our calendar deliberately short so that each client is met personally, measured carefully, and fitted as many times as the garment asks for. Nothing leaves the studio until it fits like it was drawn on the body.

Our Craft
Every pattern is drafted from your measurements alone. No graded block, no average — a shape that exists once.
We source rare silks, wools and laces and let the cloth decide the silhouette, never the other way around.
A cotton toile is fitted and adjusted before any final fabric is cut, so costly cloth is never wasted or guessed at.
Hems, closures and linings are sewn by hand. It is the slower way, and the only way we will sign a garment.

Yeon Ryeon Park founded OpalThread in 2018 with a single sewing table and a clear vision: to make couture personal, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the woman wearing it.
She holds a BFA in Fashion Design with a minor in Finance from Parsons School of Design (2007–2011), combining creative vision with a strong foundation in business and financial strategy. Her multidisciplinary background shapes her approach to building a fashion house where exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and sustainable business decisions go hand in hand.
Before founding OpalThread, Yeon spent four years at Gucci (2011–2015), gaining experience in luxury fashion retail and operations. She then worked as an Operations Research Analyst from 2015 to 2017, further developing her analytical and strategic perspective.
Today, as Owner and CEO of OpalThread, based in Costa Mesa, California, Yeon leads the brand's creative direction, craftsmanship standards, client relationships, and carefully curated production calendar. Her philosophy remains simple: luxury should feel personal, and every design should reflect the individuality of the woman who wears it.
Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Yeon is now based in Los Angeles, where she continues to develop OpalThread's distinctive approach to modern couture.

Scarlett leads brand marketing and communications at OpalThread, shaping the brand's image, expanding its reach, and building meaningful connections with clients through thoughtful storytelling and strategic promotion.
Design Director
Lucy leads OpalThread's design vision, overseeing the creative process from initial concepts to final details. Her keen eye for proportion, precision, and craftsmanship ensures every piece reflects the brand's signature elegance and timeless style.
Design Assistant
Elizabeth supports the OpalThread design team throughout the creative process, assisting with design development, fabric selection, and finishing details to ensure every piece reflects the brand's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
